Zing!

This morning I was dancing around the house (trying to get a reaction... always trying to get a reaction) and Macey started laughing and said,

"Mommy, you look like the Sugar Plump Fairy!" 

I guess she got the plump part right. (I really need to tell her it's Sugar Plummmmm Fairy, not plump... but I guess in that context it works.)

Zing! 

New Moon.

I have purposely never talked about the Twilight series on here because I am a closet fan. To be honest I find it a little embarrassing that moms my age and older go NUTS over the books/movies. I mean, doesn't having Team Jacob vinyl on the back of your minivan window scream 'desperate housewife' to anyone else? I love Edward just as much as the next woman, but that doesn't mean I want to be married to him and/or live in Forks. So, I keep my love of the books to myself... and my sisters. And Randy. And some of my friends. But that's it.

I actually loved the books so much and envisioned the characters so clearly that I really didn't care for the movie Twilight. The only person that looked like what was in my head was Alice. And maybe a little Bella. But Edward? C'mon. Sorry Robert Pattinson.

Anyway, so I did not like so much.... which explains why I was more than reluctant to watch New Moon. The reviews were so great by everyone around me that I caved and snatched it on Red Box as soon as I could. We watched it tonight and I have to say... I was impressed. I liked it and even Randy thought it was "ok". By the end, all of the actors/actresses had grown on me and molded into what I envisioned in my head. Except for Jasper... what the?! Why did they make him look like a clown? Seriously.

So, there you have it. If you're the one person on Earth that hasn't seen New Moon yet, do it. It's a keeper. It takes me back to the books and story and how AWESOME it is. You know you've seen a good movie or read a good book when it takes you a while to get back to reality.

Even though I didn't see it in a theater I still feel like I got the whole 'experience'. Randy screamed like a bunch of teenage girls when the title "New Moon" came on the screen, and would gasp like a girl whenever they showed Jacob's bare chest- until he realized that in almost every scene... Jacob isn't wearing a shirt. HAHA. Thanks Randy, for making it fun. Even at the end he yelled,

Allergies.

So, I bought Princess and the Frog yesterday. With the help of my fellow friends who just happen to be bargain hunters too, I took advantage of this lil' ditty. Ok, so it isn't an amazing coupon, but I needed band-aids anyway. Might as well get them for free! I bought a Princess box and a Toy Story box and kept them out on the kitchen counter so I could fill out the rebate. When they promptly came up missing I knew the first place to look: Macey's room. Sure enough, Macey was sitting on her bed and had probably 10 band-aids on her arms and legs. I gave her "the look" and she defensively said (with serious 'tude), "what? I just have allergies."

Seriously.
I was laughing so hard, and then that embarrassed her. So, sadly, I couldn't get her to pose for a picture with her Princess (uhhh, only Princess for the Princess!) band-aids on for her allergies.

Kitty.

Really, I just had to bump that disgusting booger post down. Oh man, that was gross. One day I will show that picture to Collin and tell him, see what I did for you day after day? Only a mother could love that face. ;)

But, I guess since Kitty is part of my header (and in this cute picture), I should blog about her. Kitty is no longer. With us, anyway. This picture is of better days. For some reason Kitty just snapped. First she attacked my visiting teacher and made her face BLEED, then started to bite and claw Collin a couple of days later. The final straw was when she would get her puffy tail and be in attacking mode every single time the doorbell rang. I really don't know what happened, it's like she just lost it. Kind of sad.  Thanks to Kitty, we've learned two things:

1. Cats are like a box of chocolates, you never know what you're gonna gay-ut.

2. We are dog people.

Good morning!

Please tell me that you all woke up to a prettier site than I did this morning. This is what Collin looked like when I got him out of his crib. Frickin' boogers and yes that's a HAIR on his lip! I seriously wanted to throw up. Nothing can make me dry heave faster than nasty kid boogers.... and hair where it shouldn't be. 

Poor guy. Good news is he cleans up nice!

The Holy Ghost.

Last weekend we went to Randy's niece's baptism. Libby and Macey are very close, so Macey was super excited to see Libs get bap-ti-tized. Even though she had no idea what that meant. On the way to Bountiful that morning Randy and I tried to explain to Macey what was going to happen to Libby and how special it is. I knew we didn't get through to her newly 4 year old brain, but we tried.

While we were in the chapel waiting to go to the baptism font there was a talk about the Holy Ghost and how each child getting baptized that day would receive it. Macey stood up on the pew, put her arm around my neck and whispered in my ear, "it's ok Mommy. It's not a bad Ghost. It's a Jesus Ghost."

Maybe she understood more than I gave her credit for.  Either way, it was pretty hard to stifle my laughter.

My favorite part.

I forgot to journal this yesterday and it's definitely something I don't want to forget, so it gets a new post.

Yesterday, before Macey's party I decided I would finish up her cake while Collin napped. I was standing in the kitchen engrossed in my work while Macey watched from the bar stool in a silent awe. As usual, my mind was racing a million miles an hour:

How do you get frosting to look smooth?
That tutorial makes me mad. My cake doesn't look like hers at all!
What is this... quiet? 
Maybe I should turn on the radio.

It was then that I got a very distinct feeling that my Mom and Lori were there with me.  It was very unexpected, but the feeling was so overwhelming. I started to tear up and looked over at Macey. She was in her own little world, very quiet... that never happens (especially when there's cake in front of her face). I wondered if maybe she was feeling something, too.

They don't forget. I didn't realize how much my mom and sister are still very much involved in our lives, even on the other side. It made me cry that they probably just wanted to drop in and see their granddaughter and niece on her birthday. And see her momma cry like a baby. :)
