Oh, thank you sammich.

Macey is at such a funny stage. She tries to entertain me all day long. And she does a pretty good job. Her latest craze right now are sandwiches.... it's all the kid wants to eat! I don't even bother asking her what she wants for lunch anymore, because I will 99% of the time hear "uhm.... sammich" in a matter-of-fact tone. (The other 1% varies from nana's to spongebob... see what I mean? Entertainment.) My favorite though is when I do give her a sandwich at her little table, she will squeal with delight and say "Oh, thank you sammich!" Today she surprised me with a little something extra... we were at the grocery store checking out, and every time an item was scanned she would come up with something to say... it sounded a little something like this:

*beep*
Macey: sammich
*beep*
Macey: apple
*beep*
Macey: sammich
*beep*
Macey: care bear
*beep*
Macey: spongebob
*beep*
Macey: sammich

The clerk and I were laughing so hard, which of course, only egged Macey on more... and then inevitably the clerk asked Macey's name... I always hesitate to answer this question... especially when we are at... mmmhhhmmm.... Macey's. I tell her, "Macey is her name". The clerk gets a confused look on her face (like so many do) and I tell her with a grin... "it's where she was conceived". That is probably one of my favorite jokes to play on people. Especially at Macey's, the grocery store. This clerk had one of the best reactions to it, though... she laughed out "oh my gosh that's awesome!" .... I don't know if she thought my joke was awesome, or if she thought Macey was really conceived at Macey's and thought that was awesome. I didn't bother to find out.

Anyway, like I was saying... Macey is very entertaining. I love kids at this age. Especially when I can bring them back to their parents after two hours... like at Sunbeams. I love hearing their interpretations of things, and love their little stories. On Sunday one of my little Sunbeam girls got up to sing "I love to see the Temple" in front of everyone. She didn't miss a beat, she knew it word for word and I couldn't have been prouder. I especially loved the line "I'll prepare myself while I am young".... she belted out "I'll repair myself, while I am young". I couldn't hold back the giggles. What she didn't realize is- there is wisdom behind those words.

And to top off this blog entry of entertaining children, I just finished putting Macey to bed and when I laid her down she looked up at me and asked, "Momma? Sammich.... morrow?"

You need to share the love and get Macey in nursery on Sundays! She is such a sweet girl. Maybe we'll make sammiches for snack next week...

Ha! Gerb... the weeks that we are actually home she is usually sick. But she does love the bubbles there! That's her favorite part... that and probably the snacks.

Good thing that you are writing these entertaining sequences, keeping them for posterity. I've forgotten so many. What a cutie!

Like mother - like daughter! You always had something funny to say at the drop of a hat! :D She's growing up to be just like you.

I am rolling...that story totally gave me the giggles. I especially loved that you told the clerk she was conceived at Macey's ...seriously, even more giggles from me!! I'm fine with people who name their kids after places they dtd, but I always feel it is a little TMI to tell everyone else...in relief society none the less (yes it has happened...and I can NEVER look at them the same!!).

Katy that is hilarious!! I have to admit that whenever a kid is named after a city.... I always wonder. Haha! It had never even occurred to me with associating the two Macey's, until one person asked me if she was named after the grocery store. HAHAHA... can you imagine?!
